Creation of Choice Book Cover

I created a book cover for In the Forest Of The Night. Not that I don’t like the original cover, I could just picture it different. I started out getting a photo from Google.com I typed in forest wallpapers. I found the one I liked, I did the same with the tiger, I found wallpaper with a cool tiger and cut him out of that photo by selecting just the tiger, I did that by using the magnetic lasso tool. I then dragged him to the forest by setting the two photos side by side. He started out tiny but I transformed him so he was bigger by going to image and selecting transform I held ALT why doing that so he wouldn’t end up misshapen. I looked for a girl in a forest wallpaper, somewhat fantasy like. I found the one with the girl in the black dress which I found very pretty and thought it would fit in well cause the book is about vampires. I then changed the vibrance to 75% and changed the hue and saturation. Also the levels and curves were tampered with a wee bit. I used a red rose stamp that I extracted from a photo by googling red rose (I used the lasso tool to select the rose image, I then when to the tool bar and hit edit and then Define Brush Preset. I named it rose and went back to my book cover and went to brush and hit the brushes selection and my rose was in there) and put it under my text. My text is the Title of the book and the author’s name. When extracting pictures and putting them on the background I use the clone stamp tool to cover the parts that don’t fit so lets say the tiger came from a green background so when I put him on the forest he had green around his foot, so I would use the clone tool to make it match the background I want, but that only works when its one layer. So I made them all the same layer. It wasn’t how it was supposed to be, but its all I could think of to do.

Personalized card

Making my card! It was fun I enjoyed it, cause I could find any picture I wanted and make it into a stamp. To do that I opened a photo, I’ll refer to my guitar, the blue one, I opened that photo and I didn’t want the white background just the guitar so I used the magic wand tool and selected the guitar. I then went to edit and hit define brush preset and named the brush Guitar. I went back to my other 6x4 photo that I made with a background of a photo of music notes and had my name on it, I went and opened my brushes and there was the brush I made. I stamped it on there. So what I had now was the music notes background and my name, and now my blue guitar. I did the same thing with all my other stamps. My guitar with wings, to make that that way I found a picture of piano keys and a rose on Google, I opened that file and selected the photo and dragged it over to my card. I then placed it atop the guitar then went to layers on the bar thing and hit create clipping mask or an easier way to do that is alt + ctrl + G. I moved the picture around a bit till it fit behind my guitar good. I also messed with the vibrance and turned that up cause it makes a deeper red on the hearts with wings. With each new thing I did I made a new layer that way I could change things without changing the whole card. I like my card, it represents me and my love of music, and my love of bright colors.

Flyer

Creating my flyer wasn’t as easy as I hoped but in the end I think it turned out alright. I have a lot of photos of horses, I know and have worked with, saved in my pictures. So I started with opening a page and making the background black. Though I had to later change it because Ms.Minkel I guess doesn’t like black J pssh I do! I then opened another page and loaded my first picture of Arabella the gray Arabian, I extracted her by selecting her and than dragged her to the plain black page, I transformed her size so she fit right just like I learned in the tutorials. I then closed the page with the horse and opened another one with Covert Operations the black and white quarter horse. Again I selected and extracted him and dragged him up and placed him in the photo, repeating the same process. Again and again I did this with BuckShot, Wounded Solder and my dog Shiloh. Over and over I made them fit perfectly in my flyer. I then went to http://www.brushezzy.com/ and downloaded some brushes of lightning, trees, and random swirls which a plopped around my flyer. It gave it some color which I liked.  I then put in some text and what not later on by using the text option. I rather enjoy it I think it turned out really good.

Photo choice #1

This photo is of my horse BuckShot, I took it the weekend of 10-2-10 in my pasture. this is the original photo no editing or anything.

This is the edited photo, I took out the branches around his chest and ear with the clone tool. I also made him have more hair :) He is a little self conscious about his lack of mane. In doing that I cloned his hair and WA LA he has more! Also I selected Buck and hit inverse and changed the levels in the background. I like the edited one better do to the fact that the branches dont stick out and draw your attention. Also I like the darker background cause Buck stands out more and it looks better.

Scale

This is my scale photo. Its Shiloh up against Wiley my sheltie and my german shephered.
I took this photo on smile mode, cause I swear Wiley smiles! The photo was taken on October 10th.

Now I wanted the photo more focused on the the dogs, so I cropped it and got the dogs in it more. Then I hightened the levels and the curves. Of course I took out my shadow :) didnt want that in there. I like the fixed one alot more, More of my pups in that one!! And it looks better darker!

Lines

Its Lines!! I took this picture during the week of 10-something-or another. When the art class went ouside to take pictures, it is a picture of being up-close and personal with Ms.Buckleys bike! Here it is!-----

And being who I am I didnt think the picture was dark enough so I darkened it up a wee bit with the levels and the curves and what not. See that bar? right in front of the tire! Yea I didnt like it very much cause it looks dirty so I took it out, Just dont tell Ms.Buckley :) O and I took out the leaves and  random junk, with the stamp tool (that tool is my favorite!!) So yea my guess is you wanna see the other one now huh? O and I like the fixed one better cause its darker. Here it is!!!-----
